Cognitive Behavioural Therapy relies a lot on downward arrow technique in the early stages to increase understanding of people's subsconscious fears and beliefs (or negative core beliefs). It's a simple yet really powerful technique which I found was so helpful in understanding WHY I felt big emotions, so give it a try!
Today I break down the history of downward arrow technique starting from Aaron Beck's CBT model, and go into an explanation of how it works, as well as examples.
