A good ski tune can make all the difference in your performance. Industry legend, Mike Whynkoop, walks you step-by-step in how he sharpens and waxes skis. We had the privilege of filming him as he sharpened and waxed a pair of skis in his shop Après Mobile Ski Tech. https://www.apresboise.com/ also check him out on Facebook   / apresboise  .

This video explains what is meant by a 91 degree side edge angle and a 1 degree base edge angle. When you go into a shop they will often ask you what angle you want your ski sharpened at. Most people prefer a 91 degree side edge and a 1 degree base edge.

Another important aspect of waxing is the scraping. It is important to have a sharp edges on the scrapper which you can achieve by sharpening it on a file mounted to your shop desk. Mike Whynkoop also walks you through the different techniques for scrapping off wax. Don't miss his advice on how to apply the wax and what kind of wax to use.

All in all this video will give you a good taste of what it takes to professional tune your skis.
