Built in 1827 Willow Court in New Norfolk predates the more famous Port Arthur Penitentiary. Since closing in 2000 much of the site has been demolished or fallen into ruin.

Although exceptionally hard to track down I can recommend the book Troubled Asylum by RW Gowlland published in 1981.

Willow Court can be visited by anyone and it is free. Far more to be seen in person that what I have attempted to cover here.
