Moldvan was a language that doesn't exist anymore, and in fact, never really existed.
In 2023, something very peculiar happened. A language, Moldovan, stopped existing, even though there were still 2.5 million people who were speaking it. How did this happen?
Some would say Romanian was the reason. Moldovan's turbulent history in the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the Soviet Union led it down a pretty rocky road, but its mutual intelligibility with Romanian would ultimately be its demise.
