John Rosenberg, former dean of the College of Humanities at BYU, describes the symbolism of the JFSB's architecture in the context of truth and light. From the light at the oculus above its central staircase, to the fountain representing covenant, words and commandment, the JFSB embodies "the divine conversation that exists between God and man." Its beauty in space and design, together, personifies Brigham Young University’s declaration, “The glory of God is intelligence.”
