During a fascinating session hosted by David Jones of Sky Sports, OL Reign head coach Laura Harvey reflected on a coaching journey that started almost 20 years ago. She looked back on her early steps into coaching, explained how she addressed the challenge of taking the Arsenal Women job before turning 30, and revealed how she has developed as a coach – both tactically and psychologically – since moving to the United States in 2013.
In this excerpt, she looks back on her arrival in the States to take the job at the club then named Seattle Reign. She reflects on how she dealt with a terrible run early in the new role, and explains the influence of high-profile players such as Megan Rapinoe and Hope Solo.
