In the game Alireza Firouzja opens with the Catalan Opening, and Magnus Carlsen responds with the closed Catalan starting with the move ...Bb4. From there Alireza played the exact line that Magnus Carlsen used against Hans Niemann - aka the line starting with an early Nc3, combining the Catalan Opening with the Nimzo-Indian - a very provocative choice!

From there Alireza Firouzja simply sacrificed the pawn on a4 and started his attack against Magnus Carlsen with an early e2-e4, but Magnus Carlsen was ready and counterattacked in the center and on the queenside! Ultimately the game reached a climax when Alireza Firouzja played a series of alien knight moves against Magnus Carlsen, which ultimately left Magnus in complete and total shock!
