The Ken-Ō Expressway (Ken-Ō-dō), formally known as the Metropolitan Inter-City Expressway, is a major highway in Japan that forms an outer ring road around the Greater Tokyo Area. Its primary purpose is to connect various expressways that radiate out from Tokyo, providing an alternative route for traffic that doesn't need to pass through the city's congested central areas. The expressway significantly reduces travel time and relieves congestion on the inner ring roads, such as the Shuto Expressway and the Tokyo Gaikan Expressway.

The Ken-Ō Expressway is designed to form a loop approximately 300 km (about 186 miles) around Tokyo, connecting several prefectures that surround themetropolitan area.
It passes through Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, and Ibaraki prefectures,
as well as western parts of Tokyo itself.
