Today I'm doing what I'm always preaching by getting out of my comfort zone and heading 45 minutes outside of Bangkok, to the Thai countryside of Nakhon Pathom, to get some seriously unique Thai roast chicken.
I headed to the famous Uncle Peen, in the Nakhon Chi Si District to try some gai ob fang - straw baked chicken and it was absolutely incredible!
A big thank you to @dannbangkok for organising the trip, he's got a great channel so please subscribe here: / @dannbangkok
Also I'd have never finished the feast without the amazing @danny_and_diggy who I always call Diggy and Danny 😅 get over and follow them now 🙏
The chicken at Uncle Peen is so different to the standard Gai Yang that we all know and love, it's more reminiscent of a juicy rotisserie chicken .
I highly recommend getting out of Bangkok and trying it for yourselves.

The whole chicken was 200 THB
This is a prime example of why I love Thailand so much. There’s just so much food to explore here! Whether you are in Chinatown, the Old City, Thonburi or here in Sukhumvit, you can always find amazing Thai food in Bangkok

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
