When the FT991A ships from the factory the display is set for Spectrum Analyzer and manual mode, meaning when you turn on the radio you see a display that is doing nothing.

So, to fix this we must do two things:
1. Switch the radio to Waterfall
2. Switch from Manual Mode Sweep to Continuous Mode Sweep.

Also, we made a contact with station VE6CQ calling CQ at 23.370 MHz
