Can an old MX bike keep pace with a 250XC on the trails!?

The best answer is always: "It all depends on whose riding it" But seriously though, can an MX bike actually be competitive on the single track with the purpose built trail bikes like the KTM 250XC? - I think you would be surprised at how well rounded the YZ250 in particular is for this type of riding. The bike handles quite well, the Suspension is quite good even in the MX valving, and the power is fairly usable with half decent bottom end. Yes its missing the magic button and fancy electronic components, but the simplicity of a YZ250 is one of the reasons I still ride one. The bike has less components to fail and therefor can prove to be more reliable and easy to repair.

My particular 2014 YZ250 just so happens to be my first dirt bike. I learned to ride on the trails, in factory form for the first couple of seasons. It has slowly received a few modifications to make it even more suited to single track and mountain riding, but at its heart it still loves to rev and go fast.
