Champlin Park has become an elite volleyball program in recent seasons. Much of the credit went to Sydney Hilley, who is one of the best high school players in Minnesota history. Hilley is now a freshman at the University of Wisconsin.

The 2017 Rebels have a good group of returning players as they aim to stay near the top after a state Class AAA runnerup finish last season. Izzy Ashburn, a junior setter who has also committed to Wisconsin, will be one of the better players in the metro area this fall.

The Rebels also have a somewhat unexpected returner in head coach John Yunker. Yunker resigned after last season to become an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota, but it wasn't the right fit for him and since the Champlin Park job hadn't been filled yet, Yunker returned to the high school ranks.
