Since the ancient times, rivers, valleys and gulfs have been the biggest barriers to road accessibility, and the final solution is to build bridges. Bridge construction is always the most difficult of all in road network construction, and is the most technically challenging. Currently, China ranks first tier of the world in terms of bridge construction. In this documentary, we select the most typical bridges around China based on their technical content, engineering level and contribution to regional economy.

How did China’s huge road network come into being? As there are various kinds of roads, we do not intend to cover all of them but select typical transportation projects and nodes around the country to reflect the huge progress in transportation engineering and technology.

China’s wind power installed capacity has beyond U.S and became No.1 of the world in 2010. Now, the world’s biggest wind-driven generator on the sea, the SL5000, is under construction. Its cabin is big enough for helicopter taking off and landing, the height of the wind wheel is over 40-story-building. The installation on the eastern sea is a dangerous task. A Crane as expensive as a Boeing 737 and China’s biggest sea hanging ship take the assignment. This is a challenge to this project.

The historic Jiangnan Shipyard moved away from the banks of the Huangpu River and its original site became the World Expo 2010 site. Today, China has become an important member of the world's shipbuilding powerhouse, and more and more huge ships of 10,000 tons will be sailing from here to all over the world.
