Residential areas on the hills along the old Uraga road/Walk around the residential area near heaven Western Shioiri Town, Yokosuka (Kanagawa Prefecture)

This is the second installment of the Yokosuka version of Walking in a Residential Area in Heaven. Yokosuka is characterized by Yato landforms. Yato is a valley topography formed by erosion of hilly land, and is a word called in Kanagawa Prefecture. In Chiba Prefecture, it is called Yatsu, and in the Tohoku region, it is called Yachi. I think that Yokosuka's Yato topography is characterized by narrow valleys, steep slopes, and narrow valleys and ridges. The residential area on the slope is thought to have been developed during the period of high economic growth after the war, and compared to Yokohama, which was fully developed, there are still forests left, and there is a strong sense of coexistence with nature. Impression. On the other hand, the road to the top of the hill is not well maintained, and the valleys are connected by disaster prevention tunnels.
The range I walked this time starts from Yokosuka Station on the JR Yokosuka Line and goes from Higashihemicho 1-chome to Shioiri-cho 1, 2, 4, and 5-chome. The land on the hill is narrow and there are almost no roads that cars can pass, basically only narrow roads and stairs. As I was walking around, I noticed that the residential area formed on the ridge was along the old Uragamichi road. It is full of slopes that can only be walked.
