Gardens can be pretty magical spaces and the objects in them, and stories that surround them, tell you a lot about our culture. Talking about the Icelandic sagas on CBC's "A Map of the Heart," Arni Snaer Magnason commented "If you go around Iceland it looks almost barren. But it's covered with maybe up to two metres thickness of layers of stories that have piled up through history." The same is true of Waterdown, Ontario. Settlers brought their fairies, elves and other creatures who have now mixed with the Indigenous Mamagwasewug and Wendigo.

This little video introduces members of the Covictory Garden Project to Hannah's Bower, the home of our garden fairy Hannah, that appeared years ago in the very heart of our family's garden. There are many stories attached to this little castle ever since it was built by the pond's frogs (including a new brick addition that was recently added - you can still see some leftover bricks strewn around it).
