At least on Steam, Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn't even in the top 100 sales list despite the game coming out within the next couple of months.
Now, I hate pre-ordering but looking at the numbers at least gives some indication as to how well a game might sell overall.
Defenders may say it's purely because it hasn't released, but other unreleased games like DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (which doesn't release for 6 months) are doing much better.
Right now, the charts suggest it may do about as well as God of War Rangarok's PC port which would be poor given GoW is a years old title that will likely generate 1-2 million units in total. If Veilguard only achieves those numbers, it will be considered a failure and may be the end of the studio.
Pre-order numbers aren't everything, however what it means the game has to stand on its own two feet to be a hit. Hype or franchise/studio recognition are not giving it any sort of boost, unless the game is genuinely amazing, it is looking like it may flop.
