A EV ROAD TRIP does not have to be complicated! PUGLIA & BASILICATA in southern ITALY with an Electric Vehicle! In this video we share all our first hand information about traveling south Italy with an electric vehicle.
We show you the route we took, where we charged, and the absolute must-see highlights there.

The Highlights include:
the charming town of MONOPOLI.
You will find dreamy beaches, and beautiful coves along the coast between Bari and Brindisi.
A drive to the fairytale town of ALBEROBELLO is a must – those stone-roofed houses are like something out of a storybook. And what is very convenient, there's a charging station in the parking lot.
For the journey to the southern tip of the boot - get fully charged at the Tesla Supercharger in Brindisi, this one is also open to all EVs.
Explore the stunning COAST of SALENTO, and our tip is to drive from Santa Maria de Leuca towards Otranto, a scenic coastal drive awaits you there. Make a stop in Otranto; a beautiful old town with a relaxed vibe.
Next highlight: LECCE. Lecce is a beautiful city with lots of Baroque buildings and, of course, amazing food. Parking can be a challenge in Italian cities, so our tip is to combine charging, parking, and exploring the city all in one – There is a charging station right in the city center, very convenient.
Now, our absolute highlight of the region: MATERA. This city breathes history, settled since early human times and incredibly picturesque. Exploring the narrow streets on foot is a blast.
And for all you lovers of lost places - hidden in the hills of Basilicata lies what is probably the most beautiful abandoned city , CRACO – a definite must-see.

CHARGING:
While charging infrastructure thins out in southern Italy, the route is still manageable with an electric car. And a bit of planning is essential for any electric road trip.
In the region, there are two TESLA SUPERCHARGER - and they are both open to all brands – in Cerignola and Brindisi. Everywhere else, you'll need to charge on Italian charging stations.
We've had great experiences with the Italian provider ENEL X. The charging stations almost always worked, but ok they’re mostly not the fastest. But their locations are good, allowing you to charge while exploring the city.
For more details on how to use the Enel X app, check out our video "Charging in Italy."
And good to know: We could also use the app to start charging stations from other providers.
