Starting out I hike into a beautiful spring creek in Western New York. When I get to the creek, I rig up a hippie stomper with a soft hackle pheasant tail nymph as a dropper on my ne Douglas 8,8 era 4wt fly rod. The first fish eats the nymph, and it gives me some false hope for the rest of the day. I wanted to test this rod every way I could possibly fish it, so I started with the dry dropper rig. After that I fished it with just a parachute Adams dry fly without any luck. then I fished it with a zonked streamer, and I didn't have any fish show interest in that either. I ended the day using a indictor and that rig got me the biggest fish of the day.
