I was supposed to edit a different ship originally and cook this after i finish making my secret santas but we ball. Live laugh love impulsivity, right?
Okay now onto the yapping...

I switched from byler (stranger things) to the ineffable husbands obviously so i can get motivated to get it done faster. Also, the numerous quotes displayed aren't canon. They're all invented by ✨yours truly✨ based on how I portray their different perspectives after the mess in the last episode of S2. The first quote comes from Crowley while the rest come from Aziraphale.
Crowley:
"We could've run away from heaven and hell... and lived a beautiful life together. If only you understood."
Aziraphale:
"Why are you telling me something I already know and yearn for while our worst enemy is watching us?"
Then the "You know you're better than this." lyric lines up perfectly with Crowley's POV after Aziraphale chooses to go to heaven instead of staying with him. The fanart choices imo support this as well with them miscommunicating and eventually, they realize its far too late make amends now that they've separated. Then next comes Aziraphale's little monologue or I guess quotes based his thoughts on why "It was never about forgiveness to begin with, Crowley..." Aziraphale's intention isn't to change Crowley into "doing good" but to prevent his life from being jeopardized if heaven or hell found out about them together.
Aziraphale's reasoning behind his motive:
"I was AFRAID of the Metatron's abilities and what damage he can do to your very existence, possibly erasing you from the Book of Life."
"So my one desire is to protect you with all my power... even if it meant sacrificing all my happiness." Aziraphale KNOWS the kind of threatening power the Metatron holds and acknowledges that he possibly might not know everything about Crowley's fall despite their bond for over 6,000 years.
