ABOUT THE FIGHTERS:
Chimaev made his promotional debut in a middleweight bout against John Phillips on July 16 2020. He won the fight via submission in the second round, and ten days after Chimaev beat Rhys McKee at welterweight on July 25 2020. This win marked a new UFC record for the fastest consecutive wins in modern UFC history. On September 19 Khamzat Chimaev beat Gerald Meerschaert via vicious knockout just 17 seconds into round one. This earned him a new record, as it was the fastest three-fight winning streak in modern UFC history (66 days). Chimaev then returned at UFC 271 and beat Jingliang, and after that beat Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. He was then scheduled to face Nate Diaz at UFC 279, but instead, he faced Kevin Holland at a 180-pound catchweight bout due to weight cut issues. Chimaev won the bout via D'Arce Choke in the first round.
After a one-year layoff, Chimaev returned to middleweight at UFC 294 in 2023 and beat former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. After this, Chimaev permanently moved up to middleweight.
Chimaev was scheduled to face former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker on June 22 2024, at UFC on ABC 6. However, he was forced to pull out of the contest due to an illness and was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov.

Whittaker made his UFC debut on 15 December 2012 at UFC on FX 6 when he beat Brad Scott to determine the winner of The Ultimate Fighter. Whittaker then went on to beat Colton Smith via TKO at UFC 160. He then lost to Court McGee on August 28, 2013 and Stephen Thompson at UFC 170. Whittaker managed to get a win against Mike Rhodes in 2014.
After this, Whittaker moved up to middleweight. He then faced Clint Hester and Brad Travares where he won via TKO and KO. Whittaker the went on to defeat Uriah Hall by unanimous decision.
In 2016 Whittaker beat Natal at UFC 197, and Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 101.
In 2017 he beat Souza before he went on to beat Romero for the interim middleweight title at UFC 213.
On 7 December 2017, then middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre vacated the title and Whittaker was promoted to undisputed champion. He then rematched and beat Romero again at UFC 225. Whittaker then lost to interim champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 in 2019. After losing the belt Whittaker beat Till, Cannonier and Gastelum, and then lost to Adesanya at UFC 271. He then beat Vettori, and then lost to now champion Dricus du Plessis at UFC 290 before winning against Costa in 2024, at UFC 298.

Whittaker was scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev on June 22, 2024. However, Chimaev withdrew due to illness and was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov. Robert Whittaker defeated Aliskerov by knockout in the first round. Whittaker is re-scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev on October 26, 2024 at UFC 308!

UFC 308 will be headlined by one of the biggest and best featherweight title fights in UFC history between champ Ilia Topuria and former champ Max Holloway! Topuria is coming off a stunning second round KO win over Alexander Volkanovski, and Max Holloway became the ‘BMF’ champion after a crazy last-second KO of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300!
