heating is an important topic, even more so in a tiny house. what fits. should we get a wood stove, how about propane, and many other questions are raised. In our 5th wheel we had a few different options including a Dickenson solid mass heater(wood stove) which only worked if you where there to constantly feed it wood. with our tiny house we want a heater that didn't require electricity because we where living on solar power, and provided a nice dry heat. we ended up with the Ashley direct-vent propane heater, it is awesome! it works like a champ and allows us freedom from the cabin when we want it and no worries about freezing up.
also we built our house with a south facing window wall. it's amazing how much heat that can provide on a sunny late February day and by March the ashley heater only turns on a few times even in sub-zero weather, if it's sunny of course!
