Many a time I've tipped out my box of nuts, leftovers from previous projects or recovered from recycling teardowns, to sift through finding a suitable piece to mate with an existing stud in a repair or a new project. Likewise bolts.

Most of the time a match is made but the cost is time in first setting aside the likely candidates, secondly mating the nut and the bolt successfully. This step can be scuppered by the mismatching of thread pitches, in which case the quest continues. Any pairings made along the way which are not suitable for the current job go into the Bolt Sets drawer.

The gauge offers several color options including this black model with contrasting white printed lettering. There are mounting points at the top and bottom of the sturdy aluminum plate for static use and it a good size for portable use too. The steel studs are all labelled clearly and robustly fixed.

Recover, Recycle, Reuse ... Nuts and Bolts appear courtesy of fifty years of careful waste aversion!
