This book review talks about ‘The good drinker’ by Adrian Chiles. This is a different one of those alcohol books and it definitely has a place for some people. If you want to cut down drinking this may well work for you although you may also find it a little depressing at times. It’s a tough one because we live in a society where alcohol is so acceptable yet it’s hard to deny how much harm it does to us physically and mentally.

I for one have consumed booze since I was 13 and have mates I still go out with now whether on the booze or if I’m off it I’ll be the driver. I could easily argue as Adrian does that booze has given me priceless memories time and again yet I feel I want to be the best I can be and alcohol does stop me achieving that. Life is about balance but it’s not always easy to be balanced with everything. This book attempts to help us balance and moderate but I’m not convinced it’s a desirable state and I don’t think this book is as good as ‘how to control alcohol’ by Allen Carr
