Most people go to the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto but if you are looking for a smaller, less crowded bamboo grove check out Hokokuji Temple in KamaKura. KamaKura is a beach town a little over an hour from Tokyo. This is the perfect day trip from Tokyo.

Hokokuji is home to a small bamboo grove with over 2000 bamboo stalks. The best part is the tea house where you can drink a cup of Matcha Tea while relaxing and taking in the views of the bamboo grove.
