Whilst the denser part of the younger fanbase tend to refer to the late great atheist as 'god' (blame it on a rather silly teenie flick), this is the man himself setting the record straight on rock'n roll as the preferable belief system - as were it a homage to Lennon's 'bigger than Jesus' remark. The beforementioned group, take heed: this is brit humour, tongue in cheek. Don't start a neighborhood church. Anyway, the famous 1982 Toronto gig has been released and re-released numerous times - with all subsequent editions missing Lemmy's spoken word intro to (Don't need) Religion. My copy is a 2nd gen VHS pulled from an original rental-only copy. I've never seen this intro anywhere else, so this is a rare treat, with the classic line-up and all. Enjoy!

Lemmy: Who's a Roman Catholic here? Any Catholics in here? Any Protestants in here, any Buddhists, Mohammedans? You're all f*cked up, 'cause there's no such thing as religion, baby - rock'n roll is the only true religion ---!

I don't need no blind belief
Don't need no comic relief
I don't need to see no scars
I don't need Jesus Christ Superstar
Don't want Sunday Television
Bet your life I don't need religion

And I'll tell you something else
I don't need no time for prayer
Don't save no knee-pads for me up there
If your head's alright, you don't need binoculars to see the light
You don't need no miracle vision
Bet your life we don't need religion

I don't need no Santa Claus
And I don't believe in fairies no more
I don't need to go to confession
I'm already trying to fight depression
I don't need no miracle vision
Bet your life you don't need religion
