“It's what you always dream about as a little kid getting to play in the World Series. Playing for the Dodgers against the Yankees. It's pretty surreal.

And I'm just excited to get to play those big games. We're enjoying this series win tonight. Over this next week or so we're going to start preparing against the Yankees. But it's a dream come true, for sure.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their postseason dominance, clinching a 10-5 victory over the New York Mets to punch their ticket to the World Series. A key factor in their success has been the standout performance of Tommy Edman, whose journey since joining the Dodgers has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Edman, who tied Corey Seager’s record for most RBIs by a Dodger in the NLCS, expressed surprise at his role in the series. “They did not inform me I was going to be hitting cleanup or being the MVP of the NLCS,” Edman said after the game. “It’s pretty crazy, especially with the history of the organization to have tied that record.” His humility was evident as he credited his teammates for his success: “I kept getting up with guys on base and had a lot of opportunities to drive runs in.”

The Dodgers’ acquisition of Edman at the trade deadline raised eyebrows, but the versatile infielder has proven his worth, shifting between positions and even stepping into the cleanup spot. Edman admitted that he didn’t let the pressure of his new role affect him, explaining that he focused on the situation at hand rather than his spot in the lineup. “I didn’t really know what my role was when I got traded here. The postseason, moving around a little bit… I feel like I’ve just done a good job of adjusting to whatever is required of me,” Edman said.

Moving to the Dodgers mid-season was a major transition for Edman, but it brought him closer to home in San Diego. “Definitely made things a little easier for my wife and son to be closer to their family,” he said. The Dodgers organization also played a huge role in helping him settle in after his trade. “Huge credit goes to the staff and my teammates for welcoming me and making me feel like part of the team from day one,” Edman added.

With the World Series now on the horizon, Edman reflected on the dream matchup against the New York Yankees. “It’s what you always dream about as a little kid—getting to play in the World Series. Playing for the Dodgers against the Yankees. It’s pretty surreal.” The excitement of the moment isn’t lost on Edman, who is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Edman’s contributions, along with key performances from players like Shohei Ohtani, Chris Taylor, and Max Muncy, have propelled the Dodgers into the World Series. Ohtani, who signed a contract designed to strengthen the team’s roster, shared his joy at reaching the World Series stage, saying, “I really feel like we finally arrived. A lot of the games we played were really tough and hard to win. And it was truly a team effort to get here.”

Manager Dave Roberts echoed the importance of the entire team stepping up, particularly praising Edman’s impact. “I never imagined once we acquired him, he’d be hitting fourth in a postseason game. But I trust him. The guys trust him. He’s made huge defensive plays for us and had huge hits,” Roberts said.

With the Dodgers gearing up for the World Series showdown against the Yankees, the team is focused on finishing the job and bringing a championship back to Los Angeles.
