Part of my basement remodeling project includes framing out my basement with 2x4 wood studs. The basics of framing are the same no matter what sort of construction project you're working on, but attaching the bottom plate can be tricky when you need to attach the bottom plate or base plate to a cement or concrete basement floor.

Some people still use the old powder actuated nail gun method which uses a .22 slug to drive a nail in to concrete, but that's a very specific tool for a very specific purpose and I hate spending money on tools that can't be used for multiple projects or on a regular basis. it can also be a little imprecise and will sometime chip and shatter the concrete on your floor. Instead, I use an electric drill (a hammer drill is pretty much a necessity), a masonry drill bit, and some anchor bolts.

In this video I show you one method that doesn't require any sort of special tools. I use Redhead brand anchor bolts to do it. Here's a link to the exact bolts I used: https://amzn.to/36AoqYQ
And here's the DeWalt hammer drill I've used for years with no problem: https://amzn.to/36zTYy9

The steps are pretty straight forward:

1. Line up your bottom plate and mark where it needs to go.
2. Drill a the appropriate size hole for your anchors using a hammer drill.
3. Use a hammer to tap in your anchor bolts.
4. Tighten the head of the anchor bolts to expand the sleeve and keep them (and your bottom plate) secure.
