Drew Brees started his career in San Diego in 2001 when he was a backup to Doug Flutie. After succeeding Flutie, Brees became the starting quarterback but only a couple seasons later, the Chargers drafted Philip Rivers who would compete with the Brees for the starting position. However a shoulder injury would put Drew's career in jeopardy and ultimately led him to New Orleans to join the Saints.
