Arley Hall Gardens in Cheshire are at their absolute best at this time of year. The double herbaceous borders, which are thought to date back to 1846 are a fantastic display of colour and texture, they are a truly spectacular “must see” for garden lovers. Chatting with two of the Arley gardening team it was clear how much attention to detail and effort goes into keeping the borders full of colour for as much of the flowering season as possible.
In total Arley has 8 acres of formal gardens divided up into several contrasting areas, each with its own planting scheme and feel. Different areas include, the Walled Garden, the Tea Cottage Rose Garden, the Rootery, the Herb and Scented Garden, the Vinery and Kitchen Garden, the Ilex Avenue and more.
Arley Hall is a popular film and TV location, if you watched Peaky Blinders on BBC you may recognise the Hall as Tommy Shelby’s house.
