During the years 58 to 51BC, the great Roman general Julius Caesar led a series of brutal and bloody campaigns against the Celtic tribes of Gaul. Under the leadership of Vercingetorix, the Gallic Celts withstood the might of the Legions until 52BC. Vercingetorix was taken to Rome and executed.
