Living on a off grid homestead in Alaska has it challenges when restocking for winter. Now go remote with the only access being the Alaska Railroads flag stop service. Every item we purchase has to get handled 5 or 6 times before it is stowed for the winter. The cost of supplying one or two times a year can add up. It took Sarah a while to get used to the cost. She realized that if you break it all down it is about the average of what people can spend on food. Stay tuned to the end when we break it all down on the cost side and see how our stores look for the winter.
