I have been thinking about where this STOL thing is headed for awhile. You don't see me at STOL competitions and STOL drags. Are they good for aviation, sure. They give young and old a reason to get excited about short take off and landing. I actually did compete in a few early on. Now days if you want to be in with the top competitor you are going to have to have an airplane that is not good for much else other than the competition itself. I never liked it enough to focus that much energy on just STOL competitions. I would rather be off on an adventure in a place where people are the last thing I am going to see.

Since airplanes are about going places through the air I would have at least one requirements for a STOL competition. Probably more...
