“NIPSCO Michigan City Site Reimagined” features a proposed design idea—first presented at Green Drinks in 2016—for the closing of the plant which utilizes the framework of its industrial infrastructure and returns the land to ecological and community function. Through landscape sensitivity and phased development, human inhabitation brings the site to life. The project’s Student Awards Jury stated, “The entrant deftly revitalizes a neglected area without denying its heritage. It's an amazing project in and of itself, but particularly impressive that it's an undergraduate's work. Fabulous.”
