We ordered 30 go-kart kits, complete with axles, brakes, and batteries, and handed them to local high schools, giving students 4-5 months to design, build, weld, and fabricate their own go-karts. Today, at the Merritt Rodeo Grounds, they’re competing in a series of exciting challenges including a sled pull, off-road challenge, barrel racing, and high-speed kart race.

Event Highlights:

Four thrilling events: Barrel Racing, High-Speed Track, Off-Road Course, and Sled Pull.
Ground rules: Helmets are mandatory, and safety is a top priority.
On-site support: Mechanics Dan and Eric, along with a welder, are here to help fix any breakages.

Student Experience:

Teams displayed incredible teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
Each kart has unique features and innovations, from snowmobile shocks to salvaged materials.
Students worked tirelessly, even outside school hours, demonstrating dedication and enthusiasm.
The camaraderie and sportsmanship among teams were extraordinary, with students cheering each other on and sharing tips.

Behind the Scenes:
Teachers and students reflect on the journey, the challenges faced, and the innovative solutions developed.
Highlights from different schools, showcasing their unique designs and strategies.

Course Details:
Off-road challenge: A torturous course with moguls, jumps, and rocky fields.
Hill climb: Teams need to power through the hill, with the entire team allowed to assist if needed.
Innovation: One team even created a hybrid go-kart powered by a Honda generator!

Final Thoughts:
The event was a massive success, with plans to make it an annual tradition.
Every participant displayed amazing skills, and the support from sponsors and the community was invaluable.
We look forward to making next year's event even bigger and better!
